Being in the military for over 10 years I've collected a lot of stuff. Deployment after deployment I got more and more uniforms and I found that I cannot get rid of them, for practical and emotional reasons. The practical: we aren't legally allowed to donate or sell them, they must be shredded or thrown away. The emotional: they are meaningful to me because of how much I've grown as a person wearing them.
I cut up the uniforms and reconstructed the camouflage into slogans. Some of the slogans are more distinguishable than others, to represent the obvious versus the not so obvious phrases and associations. This project is ongoing.
